 Chancellor urged to tackle tax burden

Andrew Lilico, executive director of Europe Economics, says the chancellor should focus on cutting spending rather than raising taxes in next month’s Budget. His comments come after the IFS predicted taxes will reach 37% of national income by the 2020 General Election. Elsewhere, Stephen Glover in the Mail offers a similar view, lamenting that Philip Hammond has “so far not shown the slightest interest in bringing down rates of tax.”
