Youth mobility scheme
Posted on 21 May 2025
The Government has signed a "youth mobility scheme" with the EU. An agreement of this nature allows young people in the UK and the EU to move and work freely between countries for a limited period of time.
As of November 2024, Spain had the highest youth unemployment rate at 26.6%, followed by Romania at 25.3% and Sweden at 23.9%. and Greece (23.1%).
The UK rate is 14%.
The scheme allows the EU to solve its youth unemployment problem by exporting them to the UK.
In all likelihood it will depress UK wages for young people.
