 Pressure grows to abolish IHT

The Daily Express claims pressure on the Chancellor to abolish IHT is increasing as figures from the Foresight Group show the IHT collected by the Treasury increased by 22% last year to nearly £5bn. Nigel Farage has backed a campaign by the paper to scrap the tax describing it as a form of double taxation: "This is money people have earned and paid their taxes on already and it should not be taxed again,” he said. Foresight Group director Hugi Clarke adds that the public have “inherited a complicated and confusing system” and that legitimate means of reducing IHT “typically require professional advice to avoid the many pitfalls.”
