IHT rises relentlessly

Households pay £1.4bn in IHT in two months HMRC has collected £1.4bn in inheritance tax in just two months, according to new data. The figures from HMRC show a £200m increase compared to the same period the previous year. In the 2023/24 tax year, inheritance tax raised £7.499bn for HMRC. Analysts predict that this figure will rise significantly if the years ahead. Freezes on thresholds over the last few years, along with decades of house price rises have brought more and more estates into the tax band.
