 HMRC “aggression” sees IHT receipts surge

IHT receipts surged by almost 23% in the first quarter of the tax year with Sean McCann at NFU Mutual stating that £2bn had been taken from estates since March as HMRC "turns the screw" on bereaved families. With property prices stagnating, McCann says the explanation must be a more aggressive approach to collecting IHT from HMRC.
