Charity donations cut IHT billsFigures show that the number of millionaires leaving charitable donations of more than £1m in their wills has climbed by 31%, increasing from 2,328 in 2016/17 to 3,043 in 2017/18. Experts have suggested that in some cases the large donations may have been made to take advantage of an inheritance tax break that sees the rate drop from 40% to 36% when more than 10% of an estate is left to charity.
