 Campaign against buy-to-let tax raid gathers pace

Property investors mounting a legal challenge to the Government’s proposals to increase tax on buy-to-let investments have raised over £42,000 in just six days. More than 600 people have so far contributed money to a crowdfunding page which is pushing for a judicial review of the 2015 Finance Bill’s “Clause 24”. The Government introduced the plans to prevent landlords offsetting mortgage interest costs against rental profits before calculating tax.
