Record number of businesses
Statistics from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy reveal the number of businesses in the UK has hit a record high, increasing by 23% since 2010. At the start of 2016 there were 5.5m private-sector businesses in the UK. Of these, 1m small businesses, 4,000 medium-sized and 900 large companies were new. Source: The Daily Telegraph (14/10/2016)
