From 23 April 2013, HMRC is changing several helpline numbers, reports accountancy services Harris & Co.

The move is part of the department’s wider migration from 0845 to 03-prefix telephone numbers for its helplines, which began on 16 April, with new numbers for the child benefit and guardian"s allowance helplines.

As result most callers will pay less, although call charges will depend on the tariff arrangements they have with their service provider, the device they use for the call, and the location from which they call.

The new telephone numbers are:

Online Services Helpdesk - 0300 200 3600

Billpay Plus - 0300 200 3601

Employer Helpline - 0300 200 3200

New Employer Helpline - 0300 200 3211

For those with hearing or speech impairments, the new textphone numbers are:

Online Services Helpdesk is 0300 200 3603

Employers Helpline is 0300 200 3212

Callers can still use the old, more expensive 0845 numbers, for approximately 18 months.
