Changes to employment law

At the end of 2018, the government announced a host of employment law changes coming into play from 2020. They called it their Good Work Plan.The government is introducing new rules around staff contracts. You’ve always had two months to give your employees a written contract. But from 6th April 2020, all employers must give all employees a contract on their first day of work. All “workers” will have to be given a written statement too.Some other big changes you need to know include: • Some staff will be able to request more stable working hours.• You’ll no longer be able to use ‘pay between assignments’ contracts if you’re a recruitment agency.• A different way of calculating holiday pay.• New rules around hospitality staff keeping their tips.
