 Crackdown on avoidance targets smaller firms

A tax avoidance crackdown on smaller firms brought in an extra half a billion pounds in corporation tax for HMRC in 2016-17. Research found that Investigations raised £474m – 5% more than in 2015-16. The research said more SMEs were being targeted to close the tax gap.
