Taxman tip-offs on the rise
More than 250 people a day are informing HMRC about suspected tax dodging by acquaintances such as ex-partners, former bosses and neighbours.Figures obtained by the Sunday Telegraph show that last year a record £400,000 was paid out to people using HMRC’s hotline, as part of a rewards scheme offered by the body.An informant can demand cash payments for supplying details of hidden, offshore bank accounts or a second undeclared income, with a reward of between £50 and £1,000 say Harris & Co accountants Northampton #accountantsnorthampton
