HMRC are sending out brief versions of some Self Assessment notes with tax returns this year. These focus on areas customers sometimes get wrong, and use everyday language and visuals to help, reports Chartered Accountants Northampton Harris & Co.

The brief notes will replace some of the detailed guidance notes that accompany the Self-Assessment tax return.

If a customer needs more detailed information, the brief notes direct them to the full versions. The full versions will still be available online and from the Self Assessment Orderline.

Further details are available from HMRC.
