Stay Ahead Of The Game With Harris & Co Chartered Accountants In Northampton

At Harris & Co Chartered Accountants in Northampton, the specialist small business accountants, we strive to keep our clients ahead of the game by informing them about new HMRC initiatives as part of our innovative accountancy services.

In the latest announcement, HMRC have been trialling a new approach to enquiries. This approach is known as the Single Compliance Process (SCP).

After feedback from the trial, HMRC have now agreed that the initial letter sent to taxpayers advising that they are to be subject to the SCP will give the taxpayer up to seven days to tell HMRC if they want to deal with the matter directly themselves. If the taxpayer does not reply, the taxpayers agent will then be contacted by HMRC within 14 days to progress the case. If contact or progress is not possible, then HMRC will pursue the taxpayer.

Need Advice On Your Accounts? A Chartered Accountant From Harris & Co Can Help

If you receive a letter advising that you are to be subject to a SCP then please get in touch with our team at Harris & Co Chartered Accountants in Northampton. A Chartered Accountant from Harris & Co can help your business stay compliant and up to date with HMRC and provide advice on your small business accounts.
