A fifth of SMEs eye smaller offices Research by Santander shows that a number of SMEs are planning to downsize their offices and encourage staff to work from home in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, with 20% looking to occupy less space and 29% set to encourage remote working. The study, which s urveyed 2,050 firms , saw 81% say they are concerned that their business will not recover from the impact of the crisis until 2021 at the earliest. Susan Davies, Santander's business banking boss, said many SMEs have had to adapt “almost overnight” to survive.
