Sick pay reform puts pressure on small firms
Small firms are finding themselves under increasing pressure as a result of the withdrawal of a sick pay compensation scheme by the Government say Harris & Co accountants Northampton, the specialist small business accountants. In April last year, small firms lost the right to reclaim their statutory sick pay costs; this is the minimum that must be paid to sick staff by every employer, regardless of size, for a period of up to 28 weeks.
